The early classic issues are very well represented, with a fine range of Bull’s Eyes including complete sets and multiples, such as the clear impression set (lot 2076) and the impressive 90r horizontal pair (lot 2078). These are complemented by an excellent showing of Slanting Figures, as well as Upright and Vertical Numerals. The section is further enhanced by a notable selection of Zeppelin and early airmail material, including rare airmail covers and destination mail (lots 2140–2152), and an appealing range of proofs, essays and specialised accumulations. Small group of covers with three 1881-82 envelopes addressed to Geigler Pacha with contents from Assouan, Ariche &nbsp;with letter in German and from Cairo from Edward Malet who has “long complained of the unscrupulous manner in which the Anti Slavery Rep…. is conducted”, 1883 incoming cover with letter from Germany and stampless 1879 and 1881 envelopes with contents, the latter from Vicariatus Apostolicus/ Africe Centralis (with some splits); fair to fine condition.
