The early classic issues are very well represented, with a fine range of Bull’s Eyes including complete sets and multiples, such as the clear impression set (lot 2076) and the impressive 90r horizontal pair (lot 2078). These are complemented by an excellent showing of Slanting Figures, as well as Upright and Vertical Numerals. The section is further enhanced by a notable selection of Zeppelin and early airmail material, including rare airmail covers and destination mail (lots 2140–2152), and an appealing range of proofs, essays and specialised accumulations. 1903 ½d postal stationery envelope (220 x 105mm), uprated with ½d and 1d Admirals, used by Livingstone cds cancels for 13 JUL 23, and backstamped Kafue for 16 JUL. Issued ungummed, with three seals used for closure. Some toned spots, still an interesting late usage of this very rare envelope.
