The early classic issues are very well represented, with a fine range of Bull’s Eyes including complete sets and multiples, such as the clear impression set (lot 2076) and the impressive 90r horizontal pair (lot 2078). These are complemented by an excellent showing of Slanting Figures, as well as Upright and Vertical Numerals. The section is further enhanced by a notable selection of Zeppelin and early airmail material, including rare airmail covers and destination mail (lots 2140–2152), and an appealing range of proofs, essays and specialised accumulations. A small hoard of entires franked with Large Hermes Heads, from late 1860s to 1870s with internal usages, much mail from Offices in Constantinople and Smyrna and with unstamped incoming mail with stamps used to pay postage including four-colour usages from Trieste, 1867 incoming entire from Constantinople with framed F.51 accountancy mark and octagonal French Constantinople datestamp with 45L charge paid by two stamps, 1866 entire from Paris franked on arrival 2L, 5L pair, 40L and 80L; many rare multi-franked items present, each entire has been folded for filing, the margins are generally mixed, a fine original hoard similar to the lot offered in the July 2025 sale.
