E. Whicker, the soldier sending the letter, backstamped 'FPO 13' (5 Sep) & 'SABATHU' arrival (23 Sep) with the adhesive in very fine condition. This cover is a newly discovered rarity and a star item of the British Occupation of Baghdad. Not recorded by Khalastchy (2017), this is just the fourth known cover to India, the third known cover bearing SG 5, and the only known ‘Active Service’ envelope of this type.

Brunswick. &nbsp;1865 entire from Braunschweig to Rotthausen franked by 1861-64 1sgr yellow on white paper and 2sgr black on blue paper, tied by ‘8’ barred numeral cancel with a Braunschweig cds beneath for 22 AUG. A few filing creases clear of the adhesives, otherwise a fine and rare franking. SG 25/26.
