E. Whicker, the soldier sending the letter, backstamped 'FPO 13' (5 Sep) & 'SABATHU' arrival (23 Sep) with the adhesive in very fine condition. This cover is a newly discovered rarity and a star item of the British Occupation of Baghdad. Not recorded by Khalastchy (2017), this is just the fourth known cover to India, the third known cover bearing SG 5, and the only known ‘Active Service’ envelope of this type.

1937 “tin can mail” cover addressed to Wanganui, New Zealand bearing 1d black and scarlet (2, one stamp showing Lopped Branch variety) and ½d yellow-green cancelled by a ‘Niuafoou 6 SE 37’ cds alongside a relevant tin can cachet, as well as being endorsed with four Tin Can Mail markings including ‘Dispatched by tin can mail’ postmark on the front and backstamped with ten further markings. Some toning affecting the cover and residue on the stamps, but still an attractive example of a sought-after piece of postal history.&nbsp;
