Description
1850s collection of seventeen entires each showing different Crowned Circles markings, including 1850 to London showing St George's Bermuda SG CC1 cat £8500 (one of less than twenty recorded examples), a good array of South American markings, comprising Rio De Janeiro SG CC3 cat £850, Valparaiso SG CC1 £450, Havana Colombia, Panama SG CC5 cat £1900, Santa Martha SG CC6 cat £1900, and Colon SG CC4 cat £4750 (one of only a handful of examples recorded), Central American and West Indies strikes with St. Thomas (Danish West Indies), Dominica SG CC1 £650, Vera Cruz, San Juan (Porto Rico), and entires for both Trinidad (SG CC1 cat £3000) and Tobago (SG CC1 cat £1500), with final covers from Plymouth, New Zealand and Guadeloupe used on letter to St. Pierre Martinique. Mixed condition, with mostly legible to clear markings, an interesting and rare lot. (17)
