We are proud to present a further selection from the splendid “Hambledon” collection of Indian States as part of our second Stamps &amp; Covers of the World auction of 2026. Assembled over many years, this part of the collection features important Barwani, Kishangarh and Travancore with many rare and seldom seen stamps. Individual highlights include Barwani SG1 (a used imperf single), a mint copy of SG15 (arguably the rarest stamp of Barwani), SG18da as a remarkable mint pane of 4, SG19a tete-beche strip of 4 mint; Kishangarh SG8 used, two (!) mint copies of SG33, SG91 mint (a key ‘KGVI’ stamp); Travancore 1879 stamp-sized essay for the original ‘Conch Shell’ design, and extensive coverage of the fascinating official stamps.Alongside the “Hambledon” collection we present properties from a further 56 vendors, including an extensive postal history collection broken down and offered as both individual items and small collections. Other significant areas of interest include Ascension, Ethiopia (featuring a postmark study and postal history), Falkland Islands, Italy and Colonies (featuring several intact collections), Morocco (featuring airmails) and Morocco Agencies, Poland, Rhodesia, and a small range Philatelic Literature. Notable individual items include New South Wales 1855 cover to London with an 8d Laureate (a rarity on cover), Australia 1931-36 £2 ‘Roo pair with “JOHN ASH” imprint, Papua 1907 2d with double overprint (the unique upper left corner block of 4), a Bradbury Wilkinson sample book including printer’s samples of Cyprus 1928 Anniversary set plus issued stamps of Iraq, Turkey and Greece, Ethiopia 1943 Restoration of Obelisk set on cover, Ireland 1922-23 1s error No Accent mint, Long Island 1916 2½d corner block mint, St Vincent 1893 4d die proof in carmine-lake, Sierra Leone 1912-22 unique duty plate group from the DLR day book, and the ex-Howard White Tonga 1897 7½d with inverted centre.The sale concludes with a small number of mixed lots and there are various single country collections throughout the sale, many of which are of a significantly high calibre. But arguably the most unusual lot in this auction is a first day cover for the 1983 “Music in Sweden” issue, signed by the members of ABBA.The team at Stanley Gibbons Baldwin’s has worked hard to assemble this sale, and we would like to thank all our vendors for the opportunity to present their stamps and covers here.
