<p>1887-92 5d dull purple and blue, Die I, lower left corner marginal horizontal pair optd ‘SPECIMEN’ Type 12, mint, unmounted o.g. A very fine pair. This overprint is recorded by neither Samuel & Huggins, nor SG Specialised on Die I, but is noted in Wiseman where he states “examples are not known outside the Museum” and it's believed that “only two blocks of six [were] taken in 1887”. Very rare. Spec. K35s var, SG 207s var.</p>
