Description
1887-92 2d grey-green & carmine, lower right corner marginal block of four, setting 3B with date cut beneath R.20/11, Plate H5/D3, showing double frame line at left variety on R.19/12 and R.20/12 partially doubled at top. Mint, large part o.g. (lower pair unmounted o.g.), slightly yellowish gum, still a very desirable positional example of this variety. Spec. K30(3)b, SG 200var.
Footnote
Ex "Aureum". This variety was caused by a “collapsed plate”, it was believed to have originated in the corners and spread towards the centre, however, larger pieces with rows 18 and 19 doubled and row 20, either only partially affected or completely unaffected suggest the opposite with the damage spreading from the centre outwards.
