1787 pre-stamp entire sent from Worksworth, Derbyshire to London at the 5d rate as indicated at top right. The reverse shows a fine strike of the rare ‘JANy’ abbreviated cds (Jay. L4a) for the first day of use JA 27 1787; this rare cancellation was only in use from JA 27-31 1787. Light filing crease and flap torn from opening but a very rare cover.
