1963 Ninth International Lifeboat Conference 1s6d sepia, yellow, and grey-blue composite essay, designed by David Gentleman, on card (253x190mm) with colour swatches at left, in a similar design to the issued stamp (the colour of the inscription and value differs), the crew members and lifebuoy hand-painted and the portrait, inscription, and value stuck down with tape. Adorned with the artists notes in the surroundings and on the reverse with a photographic proof of the design with further notations attached to the ‘frame’. An attractive and unique essay.
