1891 'Malin' Machine cancellation. Very fine 1d postcard to Paris cancelled by a fine strike of this rare London E.C. experimental machine cancellation with code '59' in side bars at right, dated JA.16.1891. Very little is known of this rare cancellation trialled intermittently between SP.30.1890 and FE.12.1891, of the four or five examples known it appears to have been used exclusively on mail going abroad.
