1911 1d Artwork Essay by Bertram Mackennal. Pen and ink essay on thick white card 144 x 160mm, incorporating Britannia and a galleon in the design; the central vignette with a rough pencil sketch of a three-quarter face similar to the Downey head. This design was rejected as it did not include a "Lion Couchant" as directed. A unique and striking item, discovered in Mackennal's estate after his death
