<p>1840 entire letter written and sent by the first Duke of Wellington (1769-1852) at Walmer Castle, the seat of the Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports, addressed to R.H. Jenkinson, the Lieutenant-Governor at Dover Castle, where the Duke begs that Mr Jenkinson attend (at Dover) on Friday 6th November for the annual Harbour Accounts. Franked by 1d black Plate 7 (OG) touching to clear margins, tied by red MC, backstamped by undated Walmer despatch d/s (letter dated inside 15 October) and Dover arrival for OC 15. Trivial age-related wear, still a most attractive and interesting item from the correspondence of one of the greatest Britons. SG 2&nbsp;</p>
