India 1849-1854 correspondence to New York via Liverpool

Description
Transatlantic Mail: 1849-54 group of ten entires, the first six addressed to Liverpool and then forwarded to New York, the last four sent direct to New York, the former group with name and address of shipping agent erased and some with ink erosion causing splits, these with red framed INDIA PAID or INDIA handstamps, Liverpool double arc date stamps, most with cursive 19 CENTS handstamps, one in manuscript with red ‘24’ and two altered with black ‘24’ handstamp, one with manuscript “missent & forwarded” with blue Niagara Falls datestamp, in many cases the name of the ship to be taken from Liverpool was added and in this case it was Niagara, one cover from Benares sent direct, endorsed “via Southampton” and “Inland postage only paid”, three further from Benares sent direct without forwarding agents and these with framed red INDIA and ‘65’ rate handstamps; an interesting group.
