1670-1800s well written up and researched collection of pre stamp postal history housed in two albums, with most markings identified by Robson Lowe listings, including: 1670 entire letter from Oxford to London bearing Bishop Mark, 1673 entire letter from London to Somerset bearing Bishop Mark, further Bishop Marks on entires dated 1770s to 1784, last year of normal use, Foreign Branch Dates stamps with 1705 entire letter from Venice to London via Amsterdam, with Bishop Mark dated DE 15, with forwarding agents ‘8’ mark in m/s, War of Austrian Succession 1743-45 entire letter from Flanders addressed to The Rt Hon. The Earl of Loudon (who would later serve during the Seven Years War in North America as Governor General of Virginal) London bearing circular Army Bag' mark, assorted London paid marks, tombstones and experimental marks, 1800s entries bearing interesting unpaid and due markings, Scots local posts, London Local posts, with 1785 entire letter with circular W (for Westminster) Not Paid/Penny Post mark, study of Free Frank and Too Late markings, Uniform 4d postage covers and uniform 1d covers, Ship Letters and 1805 edition of The Times newspaper dated 7th November 1805 articles which recall Admiral Lord Nelsons last moments at the Battle of Trafalgar, generally fair to fine condition a fascinating lot.
