MERTON COLLEGE, OXFORD: 1881 local cover franked by embossed centre of (½d) bright blue, uncancelled as nearly always seen, the cover is an invoice from 'F & H' Bacon to R.G.Benson Esq at Merton College where upon arrival it was refolded and returned (postage paid by college stamp) querying the reason behind the charge of 12/6d (!), rare CS12 priced £2250 for partial stamp on cover.
