Description
Three covers showing high postal rates: Entire from Dundee to Wemyss Colliery, Kirkaldy, rated '8' and showing fine strike of "MISSENT TO/ABERDEEN" in black. 1799 June 30th entire Glasgow to Edinburgh, endorsed '2¼oz' and charged 3s, bearing circular framed "GLAS/GOW" townstamp and Edinburgh Bishopmark. 1799 November 9th Glasgow to Edinburgh, endorsed '1¾oz' and charged 2s.11d, bearing circular framed "GLAS/GOW" townstamp and Edinburgh "NO/10" Bishopmark. Plus, stampless cover cancelled by the 'DRYMEN' u.d.c. Type C1 in blue, addressed to Stirling with Glasgow transit cds "20 MR/1850". The Drymen handstamp in blue only recorded in use from 1850-52, and 1855 1d red 'star' tied by the Drymen u.d.c. Type C1 addressed to "The Queen's most Excellent Majesty" with the cover endorsed "The Q. cannot interfere - She should appeal to the Local Authorities."
