Description
1936 (January) series of ten revenue colour trials on Stationery office headed card (240mm x 337mm) titled ‘Essays for Colour only’, each denominated 8/1/½d with apparently unrecorded ‘AGRICULTURE’ overprint at foot in red, the proposed ‘3d umber’ deleted by gumming issued 1s6d red & black directly to the page over the block and ‘3d umber’ amended in manuscript to ‘4d red’. An additional sheet gummed by left margin bearing a further imperforate block denominated ‘2d’ with the issued ‘AGRICULTURE’ overprint on unemployment with black value tablets (as Booth 1), although the 2d an unrecorded value. A unique and exceptional archival record, of stamps which may well have been issued but are unrecorded by Booth. Offered with a series of 25 ‘UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE (AGRICULTURE)’ revenue colour trials spread across further pieces of Stationery office headed card (240mm x 337mm) titled ‘Essays for Colour only’, each denominated 7d, the colours roughly matching Booth's 1936 2/8 set although these trials showing unrecorded values 2d, 4½d and 1d. The latter group duplicated but a fantastic lot overall.
