1930 Postage due - bulk return sending. Very fine printed advertising envelope for Fardon's vinegar, prepaid with a ½d green tied by a Birmingham machine cancel for JU.19.1930. Endorsed "not Known" and struck with a Violet "Undelivered for/reason stated/½d/POSTAGE/DUE/FOR/RETURN/TO/SENDER" cachet. Left of cover endorsed "5½d" and bearing a 3d Violet, ½d green and two 1d carmine postage dues cancelled by Birmingham cds's for the following day. The large mount of postage due raised on this envelope indicates that this was just the top envelope of a batch of 11 that were returned that day, due ½d each. Scarce.
