1840 1d black Plate 5 (State 1), mint. Very fine o.g. block of six lettered LA-MC with good to large margins on three sides, just shaved under the "B" square of MB. &nbsp;Usual light gum wrinkling as normally seen. LA & MA are showing substantial plate wear to the engine-turned background confirming they are from State 1 these units were subsequently repaired by re-entry in January 1841. A stunning, exhibition-worthy multiple. BPA Certificate (2001), Spec. AS25, Cat £150,000 as pairs.
