1839 Treasury competition essays by Charles Whiting. Very fine sheetlet of three essays. The top pair printed in red and blue and blue respectively introduced the idea of check letters and show "A3" in the upper corners and "CW" in the lower corners. Together with the larger, more intricate "VR" design in blue. Insignificant tear at right, clear of design, nevertheless a magnificent piece which is printed on wove paper and not the reprinted version from the 1844 Art Journal. See.
