1880 Overseas Mail. Very fine cover to San Miguel, Tenerife endorsed "Per Africa" at top left. Prepaid by a 2½d Rosy-mauve Pl.17 tied by a London E.C. duplex for JA.23.1880. Liverpool quartered circular datestamp (Robertson type M1) on reverse for the 25th. An unusual destination and particularly early usage for this scarce plate that had only gone to press the previous month.
