Description
Bechuanaland 1934 (20 Mar) "Wyndham” registered airmail cover to Croydon, England, franked by 1932 1d, 2d, 3d, 4d, 6d, tied by three fine strikes of armorial "ROYAL TOUR" oval ds with violet boxed registration H/S numbered "8039" at lower left. Further ds on reverse together with Purley, Surrey arrival cds. Exceptionally accompanied by the original "Certificate of Posting of a Registered Postal Packet with corresponding serial number, and an unstamped OHMS preprinted envelope to same addressee at "House of Assembly" Cape Town, both similarly cancelled with the armorial "ROYAL TOUR" oval ds, and the latter also with "OFFICIAL FREE / ROYAL TOUR H.R.H. PRINCE GEORGE" oval H/S in violet below, and Houses of Parliament arrival cds on reverse, presumably used to send the registration certificate to the addressee at his actual physical location. A most interesting and rarely encountered group posted from the special train used for the Royal Tour to travel around southern Africa.
