Description
Official. 1930-47 "Set 6" (= 1931 issue) ½d black and green roto, "SUIDAFRIKA" one word, SG type O2 opt with erratic 9½-12½mm spacing, block of 132 (12x11) being rows 10-20 of a sheet with full margins showing left, right and bottom "arrows", cyclometer number "2171", and a host of opt varieties, including "Stop after OFFISIEEL on English stamp" at R19/10 and 12, and "Stop after OFFISIEEL on Afrikaans stamp" at R15/3 and 11, and R18/12, and many others of equal technical interest, fresh o.g. (most stamps unmounted). Some separation (between the top two rows, and columns 6 and 7), but very fine appearance and an absolutely fascinating item, preserving the complete 12x10 setting with extra row at top (R10) matching the bottom row (R20). [This was the final modified state ("S-C4") of the old 12x10 setting with the five "Stop" varieties, used only for this value, and now incorporating "repeat" varieties (H&M v11-13) on adjacent positions, which await final explanation.] Ex Matheson, and illustrated (columns 1-10 only) on Hisey & Matheson p.24. [Union Handbook O20, v1-7 etc]
