Welcome to the first banknote auction Stanley Gibbons Baldwins have had for several years.The first section is a collection of British banknotes comprising of early Treasury and Bank of England notes and a second part , a fairly comprehensive collection of English and Welsh Provincial bank notes, mainly from the early nineteenth century.The second section is a collection of world banknotes from Stanley Gibbons Baldwin's basement, acquired many years ago. This comprises of a selection of British banknotes, featuring a very good collection of notes from Provincial Banks in the North East of England for such locations as Stockton-on Tees, Durham, Newcastle and Sunderland which were owned by the famous Backhouse family who were responsible for the financing and promotion of growth in the North East that made this area such an industrial powerhouse in the nineteenth century. The Backhouse banking empire was eventually taken over by Barclays at the end of that century.There is aso a good run of obsolete banknotes from American broken banks of the mid nineteenth century and a very interesting group of Chinese notes from the last century. In addition to these areas there are banknotes from around the world.&nbsp; &nbsp;
