Umayyad, temp. ‘Abd al‑Malik (AH 65‑86 / 685‑705 AD), silver Dirham, AH 84 / 703 AD, al-Rayy mint (Klat 398). In NGC holder graded AU Details – Environmental Damage (8433146-002). The item is in fantastic condition, aside from the peripheral hornsilver which does not detract from legibility of the script. Extremely rare mint and date combination. The early Dirhams of al-Rayy mint are extremely rare. The only other Dirham of this date and mint combination was sold by Baldwin’s Auctions, Islamic Coin Auction 10, lot 26 in July 2005. There has not been another example on the market since, for over 20 years.&nbsp;
