Description
White-metal medal by Pinches in a distressed leatherette and velvet box. View of the Exhibition buildings, EXHIBITION OF ART TREASURES, in Ex: OPENED AT MANCHESTER / BY HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS / PRINCE ALBERT / MAY 5TH. 1857, all within a wide border on which there is a wreath entwined with four shields on which are the following names: MURILLO, FLAXMAN, VAN DYKE, RUBENS, CELLINI, RAPHAEL, M.ANGELO, TURNER, rev: Three muses seated surrounded by objects symbolising the various subjects of the exhibition. 63mm., 76.21gm. (BHM 2605; Eimer 1513). Good Extremely Fine, pristine with much mint lustre, upper surfaces toning slightly giving good definition and eye-appeal, box broken.
