Description
The Waterloo Medal awarded to Serjeant Robert Self, 2nd Battalion Coldstream Guards, Lt Col Sir R. Arbuthnot’s Company, who formed part of the Defence of the Chateau of Hougoumont, comprising Waterloo Medal, (Serj. Robert Self 2nd Batt. Coldstream Gds.), Replacement straight bar suspension with matching silver top buckle. Lightly toned fine (1)
Robert Self was born in Norfolk, a Blacksmith by trade who enlisted at Bungay, Suffolk on the 25th of October 1804. He was discharged from the Army on the 9th of June 1817 in consequence of his not having the perfect use of his left arm, the effect of an Abscess and his general health not being good. He was awarded the 2 extra years for Service at the Battle of Waterloo.
Sold with copy service papers. His name does not appear on the MGS Roll.
