Frederick Tovey
The 1914-15 Star Trio awarded to Corporal Frederick Tovey Royal Army Medical Corps, comprising 1914-15 Star, (58431 L-Cpl. F. Tovey. R.A.M.C.), 1914-1920 British War and Victory Medals, (58431 Cpl. F. Tovey. R.A.M.C.).
Ernest Tovey
The 1914-15 Star Trio and Memorial Plaque awarded to Ordinary Seaman 1st Class Ernest Tovey, H.M.S. Verbena Royal Navy comprising, 1914-15 Star, (L.5304. E. Tovey. O.S. 1. R.N.), 1914-1920 British War and Victory Medals, (L.5304 E. Tovey. O.S.1. R.N.), Memorial Plaque, (Ernest Tovey), all lightly toned very fine (7)
Corporal Frederick Tovey landed in France on the 11th of August 1915. Sold with Copy Medal Index Card Copy Medal Rolls.
Ordinary Seaman Ernest Tovey was Discharged as an Invalid on the February 1917. He had served in the Royal Navy since 20th of April 1914, his last ship was H.M.S. Verbena a Arabis-class Sloop, Arabis class was the third, and largest, of the five sub-classes of minesweeping sloops completed under the Emergency War Programme for the Royal Navy in World War I. He applied for a Silver War Badge and Badge number (15952) was issued to him on the 9th of August 1917. He Died of Tuberculosis aged 24 and was Buried on the 9th of February 1918 in Queen’s Road Cemetery, Walthamstow His Home address was Thaydon St, Walthamstow. He was not entitled to a Commonwealth war Graves Headstone as he had left the Navy before he died.
