Queen’s Sudan nd Khedives Sudan Pair to Private Ernest John Everest, 21st Lancers, who rode with ‘B’ Squadron in the famous charge at Omdurman, 2 September 1898 comprising Queen’s Sudan Medal 1896-98, (3386 Pte J. Everest. 21st Lancers.); Khedive’s Sudan Medal 1896-1908, 1 clasp, Khartoum (3386 Pte E. Everest 21st Lcrs) very fine (2)
N.B. Queen’s Sudan Sold 30th June 1982 by Glendinning named to (3386 Pte. J. Everest 21/Lcrs) the catalogue stating Rank almost erased.
This Queen’s Sudan Medal has Impressed naming not engraved, a replacement later issue. The Khedive’s Sudan regimentally engraved as expected
Private Ernest John Everest, “B” Squadron, 21st Lancers Ride in the Charge on the 2nd of September 1898. - his squadron suffered the heaviest losses during the charge, with 9 men killed and 26 wounded.
He enlisted on the 28th of November 1891 aged 22 years 3 months stating that he was a Servant, he was Discharged on the 25th of November 1903.
