The Great War Jewish Austrian Hungarian Officers Casualty Group awarded to Lieutenant of Reserves Samu Wertheimer, Feld Kannonen 14 and Field Artillery Regiment 102 who was wounded by a grenade splinter on the 12th of December 1915 comprising, and later became a famous Athlete in Austria until forced to flee by the Nazis for being Jewish comprising, Military Merit Cross with Swords, Military Merit Medal with Swords Gilt, Military Merit Medal Silver, Military Merit Medal Bronze, Karl Troops Cross, The Wound Medal, WW1 Commemoration Medal to Central Powers, Hungarian Word War Commemoration Medal, Third Reich German National Sports Badge in Silver, all unnamed as issued, fair (9)
Samu Wertheimer was born in Gajary, zupa, Bratislava in 1893, he was Mustered for the Army in October 1914 reporting for Militaru Service at Pozsony Hungary, he served as a Artillery Gunner from 28th of October 1914 until the 31st of March 1917 Being promoted Lieutenant on the 1st of April 1917.Whilst serving as a Gunner with Feldkanonen Regiment 28 he was wounded by a Grenade Splinter on the 12th of December 1915.His Army career finished on the 15th of November 1918.

Among his nine war decorations, he also possessed the Military Merit Cross with Swords. As an active athlete, he was among the most versatile and successful. He achieved all three sports badges, and it is noteworthy that before him only three Austrian athletes had attained this triple distinction. As a sportsman and subsequently as the overall leader of the swimming section, he was quite successful.
