Chichester, James Dally Halfpenny 1794, Bust half right of Elizabeth I, rev. Market cross, edge PAYABLE AT DALLYS CHICHESTER, 29.5mm/10.12gm. (DH 15), Another the same but edge WILLEY SNEDSHILL BERSHAM BRADLEY, 30.25mm/10.93gm. (DH 15a). Another the same but edge RICHARD BACON COCKEY LANE,28.75mm/9.92gm. (DH 15c). Another similar but probably a contemporary copy, edge plain, 29mm/9.39gm. (DH 16a). Another but a mule, rev. Britannia seated left (as Hants 13), PAYABLE IN LONDON – rest engrailed. (DH 17a), DH 15 and 17a good Extremely Fine, first toned with blue iridescence, second almost bronzed – other three good Very Fine and toned and all extremely rare ‘RRR’. [5]
DH 15a, 15c and ex F S Cokayne Col., his tickets – first bought 30 Dec 1905 from J Atkins for 4/6., second 20 Aug 1938 for 21/‑. Acquired AHB c. 1946. DH 16a bought Spink c. 2008 (their ticket), most likely ex F S Cokayne.
