Shrewsbury, Isaac Wood mule Halfpenny 1793, Arms of Shrewsbury, rev. Bishop Blaze holding wool-comb, (Devon 2), edge PAYABLE IN ANGLESEY LONDON OR LIVERPOOL, 30mm/11.43gm. (DH 23). Another similar but Bishop Blaze now holding a chalice rather than wool-comb, 29.5mm/11.43gm. (DH 24), both Extremely Fine toned with traces of lustre, second with usual obverse die crack and extremely rare ‘RRR’. [2]

Both ex F S Cokayne Col., his tickets, first bought 5 Nov 1903 for 3/‑.; second ex Samuel Hamer Col. bought via Glendining’s 27 Nov 1930, lot 291 with 18 other tokens for 70/-. Acquired AHB c. 1946.
