Macclesfield, Contemporary counterfeit of a Roe & Co. Halfpenny 1790. Draped bust of Charles Roe right, rev. industry seated left holding auger and cogwheel, edge PAYABLE IN DUBLIN OR LONDON + . +, 27.5mm/9.72gm. (DH 61). Another similar, but different edge PAYABLE IN LANCASTER LONDON OR BRISTOL, 27.5mm/9.04gm. (DH 61a). Another counterfeit but with beehive over RC cypher, edge same, 28.5mm/8.33g. (DH 62). Another the same, but blundered edge PAYABLE IN LANCASTER OR BRISTOL, 28mm/8.38gm. (DH 62a). Another the same, but edge PAYABLE AT LONDON OR DUBLIN, 27.5mm/8.78gm. (DH 62b), all Extremely Fine with traces of lustre DH 62a particularly lustrous. [5]
