Chester, Roe & Co. (probably speciously issued by Kempson)) Halfpenny. R&Co cypher with owl crest, edge engrailed, 29.5mm/8.76gm. (DH 5). Another but plain edge, 29mm/9.10gm. (DH 5a). Another, but owl’s feet on central dots 29mm/8.90gm. (DH 6). All Extremely Fine or better, first two with substantial lustre and second with good purple iridescence as well [3].

All three ex F S Cokayne Col., his tickets, acquired AHB c. 1946. DH 5 bought 1 Oct. 1903 for 3/6, DH 5a bought from R Dalton 19 May 1911 for 1/-, DH 6 bought 24 Sep. 1894 for 9d.
