Crimea Medal 1854-55, two clasps, Inkermann and Sebastopol awarded to Serjeant William Gamble, 3rd Battalion Grenadier Guards who was Severely Wounded in the attack on the Malakoff on the 16th of August 1855, (5558 Serjt WM. Gamble 3rd Battn. Grenr. Guards.), Regimentally Impressed naming, toned about fine. (1)
The Medals Rolls for the 3rd Battalion Grenadier Guards confirm the award of both clasps. His name appears in the London Gazette, the Despatch of General Simpson of the 18th of August 1855, detailing the attack on the Malakoff and attaching a list of those killed and wounded. 5558 Serjeant William Gamble is listed as Severely Wounded on the 16th of August 1855.
