Efficiency Meda, GVR, India Suspension awarded to Serjaent Sjt W. Holder, Assam Bengal Railway Battalion Auxiliary Force India, (Sjt. O.W. Holder. A.B. Ry. Bn. A.F.I.), lightly toned very fine. (1)
The Assam Bengal Railway Battalion were an auxiliary regiment composed of the staff of the Assam-Bengal Railway. It began in 1901 as the Assam-Bengal Railway Volunteer Rifles and became the Assam Bengal Railway Battalion in 1920. Their HQ was at Chittagong and their uniform in summer was khaki drill and winter was khaki serge with dark green facings, trimmed with silver lace.
