Naval General Service Medal 1793-1840, one clasp, Navarino, awarded to Boy James Humby, H.M.S. Dartmouth (James Humby.), lightly toned very fine. (1)
The only man by this name on the NGS Roll. James Humby joined the Royal Navy as a Boy on the 20th of January 1827, he served aboard H.M.S. Dartmouth at Navarino, only 9 months after joining. He subsequently served aboard Her Majesty’s Ships, Britannia, Buffalo, Snipe, Caledonia, Sylvia, Rocket, Vincent, Fearless, Dasher and Victory, he was discharged to shore on the 10th of April 1850 and then joined the Coast Guard serving from 21st February 1854 to the 7th February 1857 at Portsmouth Dockyard as a seaman Rigger. His Naval General Service Medal was sent to Portsmouth on the 26th of December 1849
