Pakistan, copper-nickel Pattern Rupee, 1947, type 3 (KM Pn3). In NGC holder graded MS 65 (6381193-002), lovely golden tone to surfaces. Extremely rare. Only two examples previously recorded as sold &nbsp;on Coin Archives.&nbsp;Upon independence in August 1947 the newly formed Republic of Pakistan sought to produce new coinage of the country. Three separate pattern designs for the Rupee were proposed and produced under the instruction of Sinclair-Jones, the mint master in Lahore. The first two designs were never adopted, however, the latter from which this coin is struck from went onto be used for the currency Rupee struck for over a decade between 1948-1960.
