From HMS Association, which sank in 1707 off the Isles of Scilly. The lot is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
The HMS Association was a British warship that sunk off the Isles of Scilly in October 1707. Upon returning from the Mediterranean after its participation in the Toulon campaign, amidst the war of the Spanish Succession, severe weather sunk 4 ships of the Royal Navy fleet. It was one of the worst maritime disasters in British naval history. Salvaging began in the 1960s, recovering a variety of artifacts and over 2,000 gold and silver coins.
