India, Kakatiyas of Warangal, gold Gadyana, repousse fabric, c. 900-1000 AD, nine punches struck deeply on a very thin flan, five with a boar facing right with sun and moon above in the centre, two with Kannada letter 'Shri' twice in one punch, one with Kannada legend ‘Manda’ and one with Kannada legend ‘lika’; 3.79g, 30mm diameter (Mitch. -;for similar see Classical Numismatic Gallery, Auction 38, lot 249). Good Very Fine. Extremely rare. Most likely an issue of Gunda IV (955-995 AD), an early Kakatiya ruler who ruled as a feudatory of the Rashtrakutas. The title 'Mandalika' might refer to the feudatory status of Gunda IV.
