The Krugerrand is the world's best-known and most successful gold coin. This magnificent coin from South Africa was first struck in 1967. Celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2017, this coin was minted by the South African Mint at the weight of five ounces in Proof gold quality. The obverse features the profile of Paul Kruger, South Africa's president from 1882-1902, while the reverse depicts the Springbok antelope, the distinctive motifs of every Krugerrand coin. The design also boasts a Jubilee Privy Mark: 50 Years Anniversary 1967-2017.
