Description
Henry I (1100-35), Penny, double inscription type (c.1115), Wilton mint, moneyer Thurcil, crowned bust with diadem and sceptre facing left, two quatrefoils of annulets before sceptre, legend surrounding [‑]ENR[‑‑]. Rev, cross pattee at centre in circle, two concentric legends the outer legend divided by four quatrefoils of annulets in circles, moneyer in outer legend [+]TVRC[ ], mint name script inner legend +HPILTVH, 1.39g (S.1272; N.867; BMC type 11). Official edge incision struck on a fully rounded flan, extremely fine for a weakly struck series, portrait bold. Very rare, fetching.
