Description
Bronze medal by Pinches in a brass double shell case. View of the Exhibition buildings, EXHIBITION OF ART TREASURES, in Ex: OPENED AT MANCHESTER / BY HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS / PRINCE ALBERT / MAY 5TH. 1857, all within a wide border on which there is a wreath entwined with four shields on which are the following names: MURILLO, FLAXMAN, VAN DYKE, RUBENS, CELLINI, RAPHAEL, M.ANGELO, TURNER, rev: Three muses seated surrounded by objects symbolising the various subjects of the exhibition. 63mm., 85.78gm. (BHM 2605; Eimer 1513). Good Extremely Fine, pristine with full mint lustre, shells in good order.
