Lithuania, Grand Duchy of Lithuania and West-Rus', silver payment ingot, also called Grivna or Izroj, 12th-15th century, dimensions: 12.5cm x 1.3cm, purity: 93% silver, 104.20g (HP II 163). Very Fine. The ingot has consistent size and weight comparable to other similar pieces of this type. Rare.
The so-called Lithuanian long currency was a type of money used by the Baltic peoples and in the early Grand Duchy of Lithuania in the 12th - 15th centuries. It was commodity money in the form of silver ingots.
