Mexico, Philip V (1700-1746), silver 8 Reales, 1737 Mo-MF, 26.54g (Cal. 1446; KM 103). Good Very Fine, saltwater damage. Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from Artifacts, Grand Cayman.Ex. shipwreck Rooswijk. The Rooswijk was built in 1737 for the Dutch East India Company (VOC). On January 9, 1740, it sank on the sand bank of Goodwin Sands, about 8 km from the coast of Kent, claiming the lives of all 237 crewmen onboard and taking with it gold and silver worth in excess of 300,000 guilders.
