Footnote
Sold with accompanying 1950s Baldwin’s shop tickets recording that these four coins were ‘found in the rafters of Crediton Church’ in Devon. These are four of a hoard of 1,884 coins, ranging from Edward IV to Charles II, discovered by workmen in October 1896, while they were repairing ceiling of the vestry. It was later deemed, from the uncirculated condition of the early milled coins of Charles II, that the hoard was concealed there sometime in the middle 1680s.
