Description
Oliver Cromwell (1656-58), Crown, 1658/7 by Thomas Simon, 8 in date struck over 7, laureate and draped bust left, raised die flaw at early stage, toothed border. Rev, crowned quartered shield of arms of the Protectorate, date above, designed by Pierre Blondeau *HAS NISI PERITVRVS MIHI ADIMAT NEMO, translating to "Let no one remove these from me under penalty of death." (S.3226; Bull.240; ESC.10; L&S 1). About extremely fine. Possibly once cleaned but now retoned.
