Daniel Maclise (1806–1870), painter, silver medal (55mm/91.79gm) 1878 by A. B. Wyon for the Art Union of London Series. Bust left. Rev, Maclise’s large 1842 painting “The Play Scene in Hamlet” (Eimer 1659; BHM 3047). Minor nick to jowl, otherwise Good Extremely Fine with pleasing orange/purple hues to peripheries and much original lustre. Very rare, with only 30 silver medals allotted in 1855.
